What information do I need from my household help so that the employment relationship can be registered correctly?

For the registration and settlement with the compensation office, you “only” need the following information from your employee:

  • name, first name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • AHV social security number (e.g. on the health insurance card, 13-digit number beginning with 756)

However, if the monthly salary is above CHF 1,777.50 (or CHF 21,330 per year), you must also register your employee with a pension fund and, in the case of foreign employees, with the relevant tax authorities. These authorities then require specific – much more detailed – information.
