10. Cookies

Our services use cookies and similar technologies (collectively “tools”) provided either by us or by third parties.

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your device by the browser. Comparable technologies are web storage (local / session storage), fingerprints, tags or pixels. Most browsers are set by default to accept cookies and similar technologies. However, you can usually adjust your browser settings so that cookies or similar technologies are rejected or only stored with your prior consent. If you refuse cookies or similar technologies, you may not be able to use all of our services without problems.

In the following, the tools we use are listed by category, whereby we inform you in particular about the providers of the tools, the storage period, and their purpose. If personal data is transferred to third countries, we refer you to section 6 of our Privacy Policy, also with regard to the risks this may entail.

10.1 Essential tools

10.1.1Chatbox

www.quitt.business uses a widget to display a chatbox for contacting us through other channels. The following cookies are set for this purpose:

  • “activechatyWidgets” (1 day): Facilitates the functionality of the chatbox feature on the website
  • “chatyWidget_0” (7 days): Facilitates the functionality of the chatbox feature on the websit

10.2 Non-essential tools

10.2.1 Google Analytics

Our website uses the web analytics service Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google Analytics 4”). If you have not consented to the use of the analytics tools, your data will not be collected as part of Google Analytics 4.

Google Analytics 4 uses JavaScript and pixels to read information on your terminal device and cookies to store information on your terminal device. This is used to analyse your usage behaviour and to improve our website. The access data is compiled by Google on our behalf into pseudonymous usage profiles and transferred to a Google server in the USA. We will process the information obtained in order to evaluate your use of the website and to compile reports on website activities.

The data collected as part of the usage analysis of Google Analytics 4 is enriched with data from the Google Search Console and linked to data from Google Ads, in particular to measure the success of our advertising campaigns (so-called conversions).

The following data may be processed by Google Analytics 4: IP address; user ID and device ID; referrer URL (previously visited page); pages viewed (date, time, URL, title, length of stay); downloaded files; clicked links to other websites; achievement of certain goals (conversions); technical information (operating system; browser type, version and language; device type, brand, model and resolution); approximate location (country, region and city, if applicable, based on anonymised IP address).

This tool uses the following cookies:

  • “_ga” (2 years), “_gid” (24 hours): Recognition and differentiation of visitors through a user ID.
  • “ga[GA-ID]” (2 years): Retention of information for the current session.

To know more about Google’s cookie usage, consult its privacy policy here.

10.2.2 Google Ads

We use the services of Google Ads to draw attention to our attractive offers through advertising materials (so-called Google Ads) on external websites. Google Ads allows us to display advertisements in the Google search engine or on third-party websites when the user enters specific search terms on Google (keyword targeting). Additionally, targeted ads can be displayed based on user data available at Google (e.g., location data and interests) (audience targeting). As website operators, we can quantitatively analyze this data by, for example, analyzing which search terms led to the display of our ads and how many ads resulted in corresponding clicks.

Furthermore, we also utilize the Google Ads Conversion Tracking feature. In relation to the data from advertising campaigns, we can determine how successful individual advertising measures are. The goal is to show you advertisements that are of interest to you, make our website more interesting for you, and achieve a fair calculation of advertising costs. For instance, we can evaluate which buttons on our website are clicked most frequently, and which products are viewed or purchased most frequently. This information is used to create conversion statistics. We learn the total number of users who clicked on our ads and the actions they took.

We use the remarketing function within the Google Ads service. With the remarketing function, we can present users of our website with interest-based advertisements on other websites within the Google advertising network (in the Google search or on YouTube, so-called ‘Google Ads’ or on other websites). The interaction of users on our website is analyzed for this purpose, allowing us to display targeted advertising to users on other sites even after they have visited our website. Google stores cookies on users’ devices for this purpose, which visit certain Google services or websites in the Google Display Network. These cookies record the visits of these users. The cookies serve to uniquely identify a web browser on a specific device and not to identify a person.

We use the Google Ads ‘Conversion Linker’ on our website. The Google Conversion Linker automatically captures information about ad clicks in the URLs of the conversion page and stores them in cookies within your domain for websites. Subsequently, the data is forwarded in URLs for AMP pages. We use Google Conversion Linker in conjunction with other Google Marketing Platform products, allowing unique IDs to be stored in these cookies.

This tool uses the following cookies:

  • “_gcl_au” (3 months): It’s the first party cookie for “Conversion Linker” functionality – it takes information in ad clicks and stores it in a first-party cookie so that conversions can be attributed outside the landing page.
  • “_gcl_aw” (3 months): This cookie is set when a user arrives on the website by clicking on a Google ad. It contains information about which ad was clicked, allowing achieved successes such as orders or contact inquiries to be attributed to the ad.
  • “NID” (6 months): contains a unique ID Google uses to remember your preferences and other information, such as your preferred language (e.g. English).
  • “IDE” (1 year): Contains a randomly generated user ID. With this ID, Google can recognize the user across different domains and display personalized advertisements.

To know more about Google’s cookie usage, consult its privacy policy here.

10.2.3 Google Ad Manager

Our website uses Google Ad Manager, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google Ad Manager”). This service is used to display Google ads on our website by setting cookies to the browser when a user visits a page that shows Google Marketing Platform advertising products and Google Ad Manager ads. Pages with Google Marketing Platform advertising products or Google Ad Manager ads include ad tags that instruct browsers to request ad content from our servers. When the server delivers the ad content, it also sends a cookie. But a page doesn’t have to show Google Marketing Platform advertising products or Google Ad Manager ads for this to happen; it just needs to include Google Marketing Platform advertising products or Google Ad Manager ad tags, which might load a click tracker or impression pixel instead. This way, cookies are used to improve advertising (e.g. target advertising based on what is relevant to the user, to improve reporting on campaign performance, to avoid showing ads the user has already seen), as well as to serve, render and personalise ads. Cookies themselves contain no personally identifiable information. Depending on the publisher’s and user’s settings, information associated with cookies used in advertising may be added to the user’s Google Account.

This tool uses the following cookies:

  • “IDE” (13 months): Recognition and differentiation of visitors through a user ID, tracking interactions with advertisements, serving personalized ads.
  • “__gads” (13 months): Display of personalized advertisements on third-party sites.
  • “DSID” (15 minutes): Storage of Google’s setting for advertising personalization on third-party sites.
  • “1P_JAR” (30 days): Optimization of personalized advertising, prevention of repeated display of the same ads.
  • “NID” (6 months): Settings and personalization for Google services and additional features for advertising purposes, especially displaying Google ads in Google services.

To know more about Google’s cookie usage, consult its privacy policy here.

10.2.4 Adobe Typekit

For the consistent presentation of fonts, we use so-called web fonts provided by Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited: 4-6 Riverwalk, City West Business Campus, Saggart, Dublin 24, Ireland. When you access a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly. For this purpose, the browser you are using must establish a connection to Adobe’s servers. As a result, Adobe becomes aware that our website has been accessed through your IP address.

If you would like to learn more about the data processing by Adobe, please read their privacy policy here.

10.2.5 Google Fonts

Our website uses Google Fonts, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google Fonts”). Google Fonts allow us to integrate the display of external fonts into the design of our website and to display them correctly to you, thus helping us to make the design of our website more user-friendly. Google Fonts do not set any cookies, however if you visit one of our pages on which we integrate Google Fonts, Google will be informed which of our Internet pages you have visited. In addition, the IP address of the browser of the visitor’s terminal device is stored by Google.

To know more about Google’s data processing, consult its privacy policy here.

Our website uses Google Tag Manager, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google Tag Manager”). The Tag Manager is used by us to manage the tools and external services that we use on our website and allows the use of so-called tags. A tag is a code element that is stored in the source code of the website in order to control, for example, which page or service elements and tools are activated and loaded in which order. In some cases, the data is processed on a Google server in the USA.
